Description

This coffee is from the microlots in the the Nabusimake village in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in northern Colombia. Whilst Sierra Nevada (also known as the Magdelena) is one of the major coffee producing regions in the country, Nabusimake, “the land where the sun is born”, has generally remained mysterious to outsiders. Being the spiritual capital of the Arhuacos indigenous group, it is protected by mamos and the indigenous people. Outsiders are only let in if they are willing to respect the village and its community and the village is not open to destructive mass tourism. Due to this reason, only very few people have had access to this breathtakingly beautiful place. The higher altitude and marked difference in temperature between night and day in Nabusimake makes it particularly suitable for coffee growing. With the help of non-profitable organizations that provide them with coffee growing/processing education and resource support, Nabusimake is now producing some nice clean coffee for the world to enjoy, which in turn helps support the livelihood of the indigenous people.
