This coffee comes from the Thika region, in the north-east of Nairobi. The region produces some of the finest and most sought-after coffees in the world. Rainfall is around 1000mm annually and the altitude is between 1600-1800 masl. Flowering happens between June and August and harvesting periods stretches from October through to December. The area has beautiful rich red loamy soil.
Wamuguma is one of two washing stations associated with the Ritho Coop in the Thika region. This Coop is located on the slopes of the Aberdare Mountains, which form the eastern border of the Great Rift Valley. The Coop has a membership of approximately 2,000 farmers, and half of the members deliver cherry to the Wamuguma washing station.
